From June through to late October, the Humpback Whales are in our waters to mate and give birth to their young.  Vava'u is unique as a whalewatch centre as whales can be seen very easily when out fishing or within the island group, often only minutes from the inner harbour. When fishing, these whales are able to be seen during a normal day - an added and impressive attraction.

If you just wanted to take a day off from fishing,  Kiwi Magic has been associated with the Whale Watch industry in Vava’u, Kingdom of Tonga since 1991. Keith, Skipper, of Kiwi Magic first became aware of the amazing Humpback Whales when taking his first sport fishing charters back in the early 90’s. Over that time, the Whale Watching industry has grown to the stage now where there are 20 companies are offering Whale Watching in Vava’u.

Kiwi Magic management has been actively involved in the growth of the industry and has worked with international organizations such as I.F.A.W. and S.P.R.E.P. to assist with the setting of guidelines which are recognized internationally.

Our company specializes in small groups of up to six persons to give the optimum opportunity of being able to swim with these amazing creatures. We also offer photographers exclusive use of the vessel for their needs and can give references from international photographers who have chartered with us.
